Free Exercise is Available and Worthwhile

No matter what stage of life you’re in or what shape you’re currently in, incorporating some level of exercise into your life can be beneficial. Even free exercise is available and worthwhile.

First and foremost, I want to clarify that the level of fitness or appearance has no bearing on your worth as a person or your ability to excel in the work that you do. Embarking on a fitness journey is not a moral obligation, and there are numerous important aspects of life besides being fit or looking good. However, there are certain undeniable benefits to being physically fit. Regular exercise enhances physical capabilities and offers a multitude of health benefits. Additionally, engaging in physical activity promotes mental sharpness.

As someone who has pursued a career in fitness, I encourage others to consider incorporating movement and exercise into their lives as it can enhance the quality of those important aspects. Being fit is not a prerequisite for being a good parent, employee, or community member, but it can certainly make those roles easier and add to your capabilities.

Now, I will give a couple of simple, quick, and free suggestions that you can implement, regardless of your current situation. You don’t need to purchase workout plans, expensive equipment, or gadgets—these things won’t make it any easier for you; they’re just products being sold to you.

Firstly, remember to keep your exercise routine practical and useful. Ignore the unrealistic claims and shortcuts given by individuals online, including fitness professionals who have been in the industry for years. Achieving a high level of fitness takes time and consistent effort. Beware of anyone promising quick results.

Walking is an incredibly accessible form of exercise that can easily fit into your schedule. Even if you have just ten minutes to spare, you can go for a little walk. Don’t dismiss it as insignificant. You don’t need a step counter or fancy shoes—simply walk around your neighborhood, house, or office. It will make a difference. When you feel ready for more, gradually increase the duration or speed of your walks.

When you are ready to step it up, incorporate some jogging or running into your walks. Don’t worry about measuring distances or setting speed records. If you’re walking for ten minutes, try jogging for a minute during that time. Remember, every small effort counts.

Yoga, or similar activities, can be a great addition to any exercise regimen or a stand alone activity. While some may find it unconventional, I personally find it awesome and highly beneficial. The best part is that yoga is free if you have access to the internet. You don’t need to attend a studio, buy a mat, or wear special clothes.

You can also benefit from yoga without subscribing to its spiritual aspects. Yoga helps strengthen muscles, improves flexibility, and can alleviate lots of random pains and mobility issues.

Utilize your body weight for exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, and squats. These movements require no equipment, additional space, or specialized attire, yet they are highly effective. It’s no coincidence that these exercises have been utilized since the early days in military training.

All the suggestions I’ve provided so far require no financial investment (not even new shoes for walking or running are necessary). If you’re new to exercise, try the free versions first. There’s no need to spend money until you’re sure that you’re committed to sticking with it. However, if you feel that these activities no longer challenge you and you’re ready for something more, then it may be worth exploring other options.
